Amager Bryghus Hr Frederiksen Niepoort Edition
Mr. Frederiksen Niepoort Edition
Black with a brownish foam, mild roasted malt notes with a soft aromatic notes of wood and port.
Aged for 12 months in barrels from the highly regarded Port producer Niepoort is Mr. Frederiksen ended up as a dark brown rather than black beer with a subtle but warm orange glow. The foam is soft and beige.
Port wine reveals itself in the smell, so much so that in a split second can be in any doubt as to whether it is beer or port wine drinking. So velvety and rounded, this Niepoort version where trænoterne are clear, but never dominant. Mr. Frederiksen’s normal muscles of roasted malt and Centennial hops are still there, but they are softened and welcoming rather than tense.
And then heats the alcohol, of course, as always, in the end – but again not “in your face” just so nice and welcoming.
In Niepoort version is Mr. Frederiksen not just a beer, you just throw in the throat. It is a beer that can be enjoyed in meditative moments of your designated Chesterfield lounge.
