Flametree SRS Wallcliffe Syrah 2016. This unashamedly medium bodied Syrah styled Shiraz shows lovely lifted spice, clove, orange peel, liquorice, plum, blackberry and earthy notes. The palate displays a wonderful core of elegant blue/black fruits, spice and fine tannins. The lifted fruits are supported by a nice core of oak and stalk tannin. Drinking well at the moment the wine will develop added complexity over the next 6 months and then age for up to 10 years.
Chard Farm River Run Pinot Noir 2017 . Aromas of bright cherry and berry fruits lightly spiced with a lingering floral and herbal perfume. Wonderfully supple and silky on the palate, highlighting the ripe cherry, red berry and spice flavours, finishing with superb balance and drinkability.
Milcrest Syrah 2012. A single vineyard Syrah, grown on a North-facing, sun-drenched site and picked at optimum ripeness. It has Northern Rhone characters of white pepper and dried herbs, combined with a lovely fruit richness and generous oak character through extended barrel ageing.
Craiglee Cabernet Sauvignon 2015. A sensational, medium-bodied cabernet sauvignon loaded with fragrant red and ripe blackberry fruits. It builds with savoury, cedary notes, supple velvety tannins and subtle oak that brings this wine together beautifully and to a long finish. Top stuff. All Craiglee wines are made from estate grown fruit, handpicked from vines that are hand pruned and carefully tended here on our family farm.
Winemaker Ben Glaetzer continues to fashion big, bold Barossa Valley Shiraz. The 2015 Amon Ra Shiraz is another in a long line of muscular wines that manage to offer complexity, power and a surprising degree of elegance. Charred beef, black olives and espresso notes meet blackberries and cassis on the nose and palate, delivering near-tidal waves of flavor and personality. Fullbodied, intense and velvety, it should age well for at least a decade, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it still drinking well past 2030.
Swinging Bridge Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2013. From its lofty position on the slopes of Orange, NSW, this family-owned estate is at the forefront of the new guard of premium, cool-climate winemaking, producing a range of elegant, handcrafted wines that not only reflect their unique provenance, but winemaker Tom Ward’s passion for his home region and his craft.
Densely Fragrant. Black current. Cassis. Tobacco Leaves. Leather. Spicy Vanilla Oak.
Medhurst Cabernet Sauvignon 2015. Blackberry, bay leaf and black olives with hints of spice and subtle floral perfumes drive the nose of the wine. The palate controlled by fine and talc-like tannins woven into a persistent and pure fruit finish. With tremendous poise and elegance, the 2016 Medhurst Cabernet Sauvignon will continue to improve with careful cellaring for over a decade. Ideally matched with locally farmed spring lamb cutlets and crisp rosemary, salted roast kipflers.
Grenache (73%), Syrah (13%), Mourvedre (7%), Primitivo (7%) about a 13 day ferment for all the varieties with around 25% whole bunch. All fermented separately, fermented in 1000L vats, pressed to 500L and 300L Used French oak barrels for about 14 months then bottled. A small amount of Sulfur just before bottling and hand bottled. Grenache, Syrah, Primitivo and Mourvedre from the Barossa (Mourvedre out of Koonunga), Syrah from around Williamstown, Grenache from Tanunda and Rowland Flat, Primitivo from Ebenezer .
The fruit was hand-picked, 100% de-stemmed and mechanically berry-sorted, with only 50% of that crushed. 5 day cold soak at approximately 10 degrees. The wild fermentation is encouraged as the tank is warmed to approximately 20 degrees. We only plunge during the fermentation. No pressings are used. We drain off the wine to barrel and keep it on yeast lees for the entire 10 months of maturation, using only our best 1 and 2 year-old French oak. Individual barrels are chosen that display the pedigree of the deep sand, with intense fragrance juxtaposed with intense fruit expression and gritty long tannin structure. Not Fined. Bottled February 2015. Certified Biodynamic.
Four Winds Shiraz 2018. This Shiraz was awarded a gold medal at the 2019 NSW Wine Awards. It is typical of the Canberra region, with concentrated red fruits and spice flavours, it is plush and elegant. This wine is well paired with soft cheeses, duck and tomato based food, such as pastas and risottos.
Fruity, fresh and expressive. A genuine young and delicious Priorat wine. Les Crestes vineyards are situated at a height of 400 meters above sea level on hillsides of pronounced slopes, with the characteristic slate soil called “licorella”. A third of the grapes comes from vineyards of more than 50 years old, and the rest comes from vineyards with an average of 15/20 years old.
