Tricot Petites Fleurs France

Vincent graduated Oenology school and started meeting winemakers (like Marcel Lapierre in Beaujolais) who were beginning to attract attention to their non-interventionist style of winemaking.  He was moved by their philosophy and quickly decided that this was the path for him.  In 2002 Vincent, with his wife (Marie), purchased 4.5 ha of organic vines. This region had one of the largest concentrations of pre-phylloxera vines in France and Vincent was eager for such a rare opportunity to work with them.  The Tricot family also decided to de-classify their wines to Vin de France as the general style of the appellation does not reflect the quality of the wine they’re aiming for.

From the Auvergne region in central France. Made from Gamay grapes from a 40 year old vineyard planted on limestone clay and basalt and managed with natural methodology.

Picked by hand, mix of direct press and semi carbonic maceration and fermented in tank. No sulphur, no filtration and no fining. The wine is aged in oak for 12 months.

Has bright, ruby coloured, colour. Smells of cherry, raspberry and strawberry aromas. It’s a light wine with good intensity. Its dominated by red-berry fruit, gingerbread and white pepper.

Match with lamb roast, poultry and saucisson (cured meat for those less fancy).
