Lake Breeze Arthur’s Reserve Cabernet Blend 2013 South Australia Langhorne Creek
Lake Breeze Arthur’s Reserve Cabernet Blend 2013 – Featuring a deep, youthful purple/red colour, was handcrafted using vibrant grapes from the vineyards of Langhorne Creek. This vintage is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec grapes. Matured for 20 months in new French oak, this wine exhibits blackcurrant and violet aromas from its beautiful nose, with a hint of mint and savoury characters. The palate is balanced and long, with impressive intensity and a great framework of tannins. With adequate cellaring, this wine will serve well over the next 15-20 years. Consider rich cuts of red meat, well-aged cheese (like Stilton), or wild game meats as great food accompaniments to this elegant wine.

We have a rich history beginning in the 1850’s when William Hill first took up land in Langhorne Creek, building the initial homestead later become known as ‘Fairholme’. William’s granddaughter married Arthur J Follett, who established the first vineyards on the property during the late 1880’s.
Arthur was the eldest son of John Follett who had arrived in Adelaide in 1839 at the age of 19 and he made his home at ‘Hazel Farm’, Mount Barker. Arthur followed his heart to Langhorne Creek, establishing the vineyard at ‘Fairholme’ and marrying Alice Fairweather in 1890.
The property had always combined a successful dairy farm along with grape growing. The ‘Bremer View Illawarra Stud’ was founded by Len Follett in 1932 and he became well recognised for running one of the best production Illawarra herds in South Australia.
Ken continued his father’s and grandfather’s legacy, but began to place a greater emphasis on wine grape growing. He replaced the old palomino and doradillo vines in the 1960’s and 1970’s with cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and later chardonnay. These varieties currently make up the bulk of our 90 hectare vineyard. Ken and Marlene reside at ‘Bernoota’, the homestead which was built in the early 1930’s.
A new chapter began for the Follett family with the first Lake Breeze wine produced in 1987. This led to the opening of the cellar door in 1991.
The next generation have now assumed control with Greg the winemaker, Roger the sales manager and Tim managing the vineyard, all working together to make Lake Breeze Wines the huge success that it is today.
Our Lake Breeze cellar door has evolved further with contemporary function space and deck, taking advantage of the stunning views across the vineyard from one of the best vantage points in the district. A great place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and a regional platter.
Lake Breeze can now offer visitors to the region an extensive Langhorne Creek experience with cellar door tastings, lunch menu and The Creek Cottage bed + breakfast.
