The Vineyard
The Clare Valley is one of Australia’s most prominent and historic wine regions with wine being a way of life since 1851.
The region is well know for its distinctive Riesling wines but also its long lived red wines account for more than half of the plantings in the region.
George’s vineyards span 100 acres of premium fruit with vines of a commercial age, grown in soil featuring clay on limestone, producing high-quality, premium fruit, so good that our vineyard is the origin “source block” of Carménère grapes Australia-wide
The Owner
Georges Wines began back in 2000 with the purchase of the original Springwood vineyard.
13 vintages and two reserves later Georges Clare Valley Shiraz is recognised by the 2018 Halliday Wine Companion as one of the top rated excellent value wines available in Australia.
Nick George`s aim was to produce a rich bottle of red without the extravagant price tag. Georges wine was born from the love of the Clare Valley. Nick`s desire was to own a beautiful piece of it, this led him to purchase a small valley boarded by McDonald Road and Benbournie road in the Armagh Valley.
