Castelli Empirica Fiore del Campo 2018

Castelli Empirica Fiore del Campo 2018 Western Australia Great Southern

$23.95

Castelli Empirica Fiore del Campo 2018. This wine is a testament to not only the classic Alsatian varieties and style (Edelzwiker – “Noble blend”) but also to the Frankland River region. It is a true “field blend” sourced from a single vineyard. As the translation “Fiore del Campo” (field of flowers) suggests, the aromatics are dominated by the intense floral and citrus blossom tones of Great Southern Riesling and Gewurztraminer. The Pinot Gris provides a lovely textural base on which the fruit aromatics can sit. The style and structure of this wine makes it ideally suited to a wide range of white meat dishes, but it doesn’t take much convincing to just sit outside on a spring/summer afternoon and enjoy it in its purity.

The quaint country village of San Giorgio a Liri, in Italy’s Lazio region, was Sam and Maria Castelli’s birthplace.

It’s a farming village that is home to many grain, corn and sunflower producers, but it was in the region’s vineyards that the Castelli family’s passion for wine developed.

In 2004, the Castelli’s dream of a family-owned winery became a reality when, upon the slopes of Mt Shadforth, the Castelli Estate property was purchased – A 120 acre farm which overlooks Wilson’s Inlet, Mt. Lindesay and the lush countryside around Denmark.

The property was acquired with a semi-complete winery which, with the family’s extensive construction and engineering experience, was later completed in 2006. With a strong commitment to quality, the next twelve months were spent putting together a highly talented winemaking team.

The Castelli family enticed winemaker Mike Garland to come on board in what were the beginnings of one of today’s most promising Western Australian boutique wine brands. Through our dedicated winemaking team’s extensive experience, the sourcing of the state’s best fruit and the family’s passion and commitment to quality, Castelli Estate’s wines hold the promise of something special.
Beauty meets functionality

Whether it’s from the first glance down the valley at the Tudor style architecture and the winery’s stone walls, or the grand arches in our underground barrel room or under our winery’s acutely pitched roof, the facility evinces beauty to match its functionality. A capacity of 500 tonnes and the industry’s most advanced winemaking equipment culminate to make the Castelli Estate winery a world class, state-of-the-art facility. The design has been focused towards small batch processing to ensure that every parcel of fruit receives the care and attention it deserves.
