Bouchard Pere & Fils Bourgogne Rouge 2017 France Burgundy

$35.95

Bouchard Pere & Fils Bourgogne Rouge 2017 Very aromatic bouquet of small ripe red fruits (cherry, raspberry, currant). Beautiful flesh in the mouth, a delicious marriage where tannins and fruits are pleasantly mixed.

“Founded in 1731, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest wine merchants and one of the largest landowners in the Côte d’Or. Over the centuries, the House has been devoted to attaining highly renowned parcels to produce exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Domaine Dupré was founded in the early 1950s with only 3 hectare of vines, along with cereals and livestock. By 1990, when Jean-Christophe joined his father, they farmed 12 hectares of vineyards only. After absorbing several other smaller holdings, today Domaine Dupré covers 26 hectares, just under 10% of which are planted with Pinot Noir. The choice of grapes is guided by the soils and micro-climates. The domaine’s 2.3 hectares of Pinot Noir vines dedicated to their Bourgogne Rouge are on two, southeast-facing slopes in the communes of Mancey and Royer, both at 300 meters of altitude. The vines average 45 years of age and are planted on ideal clay-limestone soils, the same as found in many more “prestigious” Cote d’Or sites. The combination of the relatively cool microclimate and the ideal soil and exposition allows the Duprés to harvest late, enhancing the wine’s complexity and richness.

Tasting Notes:
The combination of the relatively cool microclimate and the ideal soil and exposition allows the Duprés to harvest late, enhancing the wine’s complexity and richness. The richly textured, round, fresh and expressive old-vines Pinot Noir character of the Dupré Bourgogne Rouge puts it on the same level as the finest Bourgogne Rouges made in Burgundy today.
