Biscardo Neropasso Rosso Veneto 2018 Italy
$35.95
Biscardo Neropasso Rosso Veneto 2018 – Made from an interesting blend of indigenous Italian varietals (Corvinone and Corvina) and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is referred to as a ‘baby Amarone’.Classified as a Rosso Veneto IGT due to the inclusion of a non-Italian varietal it replicates the Amarone production method of ‘appassimento’ – drying healthy grapes before crushing and fermenting.
The method depends on optimum picking times to allow for sufficient natural acid to remain in the grapes to balance the enriched fruit flavours.
Intense bright ruby colour with lifted, fresh red fruit aromas of ripe plum, juicy red cherries and vanilla. These follow through to the palate to balance with soft acidity and velvety tannins that extend into a long, satisfying finish.

Great value on this full-bodied and juicy 40% Corvinone, 30%, Corvina and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon red wine blend from the Veneto wine region. Biscardo’s Neropasso 2016 is made in the appassimento style, which sees some of the grapes dried prior to fermentation. Look for ripe cassis, blackberry, savoury herb flavours on the palate with an espresso coffee flavour finish. Really rich and nicely done. Enjoy now and for the next five years. Pair with smoked hams and meaty pasta dishes. – Community Wine Reviews
