Certified Sustainable and Organic Jeremy is a 4th generation winemaker, from a family with a 100- year winemaking history in New Zealand. Katherine is pure energy and passion, she studied viticulture and winemaking from New Zealand, while living in France, and doing vintages in Bordeaux.
For Katherine & Jeremy, fine wine is all about place. And people. The philosophy is simple. Make the best wines they can, not the most wine they can.
5% whole bunch added to predominantly whole berry must and a 5 to 7 days cold soak. 25 to 28 days on skins total. Wild yeast ferment, and spontaneous spring malo in barrel. 10 months in oak, 15% new. Lightly fined and filtered.
Medium-dark garnet in the glass. Floral, red cherries, slightly mushroom notes. Sweet and ripe dark cherry fruit, chocolate, and thyme. A balanced structure of bright round tannins. Good length and line. Ideal with gamey meats, and rich tomato based dishes. It also suits salmon and lamb.Drink now to 2025,
Deepish red/purple, good bright young colour. There are spicy oak and and ripe fruit aromas, quite charming, inviting and promising to give more in time. The wine is concentrated, lively and intense in the mouth, energised by plenty of acidity and the tannins are very evident but also ripe and without bitterness or sappiness. Power and length aplenty. An impressive wine which promises much, although it is quite oaky at this juncture. Drink 2019–2029
