Candea Tinto 2016 is an easy-drinking, unoaked and fruit-driven blend of multiple grape varieties–Mencía, Arauxa, Garnacha Tintorera and Mouratón–from different vineyards in the village of Tamagos plus a little bit of Alicante Bouschet and Mouratón from 70-year-old vines

Navaherrerros is the ‘village’ Grenache (100%), sourced from a range of the estate’s single vineyards. Through different soils, orientations, microclimates, Marc Isart is aiming to bottle the ‘spirit’ of the San Martín de Valdeiglesias area. The age of the vines range from 40 to 80-years-old, and vinification takes place in large format wood, stainless steel and concrete tanks, depending on the qualities of each site in each vintage. Some whole bunches are retained, again proportionate with the style of the vintage, and the wine is bottled without fining or filtering. The minimal oak influence means that purity and red berry freshness take the lead. Flaunting the Pinotesque side of the mountain Garnacha’s personality, this is a super sophisticated wine for the price, with a super pale colour, soaring perfume of red fruits, violets and something like hot rocks and a gentle yet persistant structure from the 35-60 days on skins. Just so much interest and deliciousness here. The palate is layered but powdery fresh, with the same notes as the nose and fine tannins. It stands out for its superb purity and finesse.
