Adega Eidos Padrinan Albarino 2016Adega Eidos Padrinan Albarino 2016
Adega Eidos Padrinan Albarino 2016. Founded in 2000 by local growers, Adega Eidos produces Albariño from grapes grown exclusively in and among the gardens of Sanxenxo in the parish of Padriñán, located at the southern extreme of Rías Baixas’ Val do Salnes subdistrict. The ‘Eidos’ (garden arbors) in Sanxenxo – 100 acres of which Adega Eidos owns – are traditionally trained, are almost always ungrafted, and are over 50 years of age.
Since 2003, winemaking has taken place in a winemaking facility of efficient and modern design overlooking Sanxenxo harbos. Selected bunches are brought the short distance in small crates, and are then sorted before the de-stemming, crushing and cold maceration processes. Natural yeasts undergo temperature control to achieve long fermentations and natural clarification, and the wines are left on their fine lees until bottling. Eidos de Padriñán is considered to be the primary wine of the larger estate, as it offers ripe and extracted Albariño fruit with clear mineral notes from the sea breeze and granitic soil.
Alsemi San Vincenzo Bianco 2016 Italy VenetoAlsemi San Vincenzo Bianco 2016 Italy Veneto
Anselmi San Vincenzo is grown in the Monteforte area within the Veneto region of northern Italy. 70% Garganega, 30% Chardonnay & Sauvignon blanc (used to flesh out the wine). Pure depth of fruit -riot of citrus and apples with scents of minerals and herbs on a refreshing line of mouth watering acidity. Sublime with grilled fish or roast chicken.
Anselmi used to be the guiding light of Soave wine, but he increasingly found that local restrictions were preventing him from expressing his full creativity so he gave up using “Soave” on his label, and its their loss, not his. Anselmi wines have never been better. This is wonderfully original wine, smelling of ripe russet apples, baked pears and savoury custard and tasting of pear and pineapple syrup that rich but doesn’t cloy, and is cut by a spritzy tingle and the acid of boiled lemons and russet apple peel. But there’s more, if you linger: a fern-like herb aroma, a kind of celestial boiled honey and fruit lozenge, some quince and crab-apple jelly. The longer you linger, the more you’ll find

A blend of Torrontes and Riesling. The wine is bright yellow with green edges. It has subtle and layered aromas of apple, grapefruit, melon and honeysuckle. The taste is floral and fresh with mineral notes. The finish is long, yet crisp.
Astrolabe Kekerengu Coast Pinot Gris 2016Astrolabe Kekerengu Coast Pinot Gris 2016
Delightful fragrant and gently aromatic bouquet with scents and flavours of white spiced tree fruits – pear and apple centric, but also sweet white floral and a distinctive minerality of wet stone. Youthful and refreshing acidity then an emerging Asian pear note and honeyed white fleshed fruits.
Bera Moscato D’Asti 2018Bera Moscato D’Asti 2018
Bera Moscato D’Asti 2018. It’s the liquid equivalent of the most deliciously ripe slice of melon drizzled with honey. It would go with honey on a hot buttery muffin or a slice of French toast; it would go with flaky croissants or Danish pastries; it would work with a bowl of berries or Bircher museli or ripe figs in Greek yogurt. It would be delicious with bacon and pancakes.

Bisci Verdicchio di Metalica 2018. Marche, Italy. Straw yellow with green reflections. This wine is intense and complex with white fruits and white flowers notes. It is well structured but still very fresh and persistent ending with almond notes…
Cambridge Road Cloudwalker 2016Cambridge Road Cloudwalker 2016
Orange, literally in color but in all honestly has the same burnt persimmon/salmon of some rosé wines. It’s hard to place the nose of mostly aromas vs having a dominant profile – I almost want to say there’s a slight pine aroma, baked apples & cinnamon (but not a sweet apple cobble). Slight effervescence like other natural wines. Palate has some tropical fruits like pineapple, guava but even has a savory funkiness like some durian.

Vibrant, mineral-driven citrus and orchard fruit aromas are complemented by honeysuckle, ginger and a touch of quinine. On the palate, bitter pear skin and Meyer lemon flavors show very good depth and vivacity, along with a firming jolt of smoky minerality. The finish unwinds slowly, showing excellent concentration, persistence and lingering floral character.
